Anyone for a box of wine?

The Subsidies will be playing the 2007 Wine Box Race in River Falls this June 23. So, you ask, "Ummm, what is a wine box race?" Well, that's a good question, and one that I'm not entirely sure I can accurately answer. From what I've gathered, this outdoor event's sole purpose is to intoxicate 250-300 people. Sounds good so far, right?

Part of the "race" is that you, a member of a 7-person team, have to help your team drink a large box of Franzia White Zinfandel in less than 2 minutes. I'm not sure if everyone wins with this concept, or if everyone loses, but they do all race. Oh, and your team is disqualified if any member has to pee or vomit in the 10 minutes immediately following the race. This ain't pee-wee drinkin' folks. Oh, and there's something about 10 kegs too, but do rules matter much after a few liters of the Zin?

Anyways, The Subsidies come into the picture around 8pm, just about the time that all 250-300 people are wobbly and in serious need of Bon Jovi and Neil Diamond tunes. It remains to be seen how much involvement The Subsidies will have with the race, as, well, we do need to play. I've always been a believer in the "slow and steady wins the race" concept, but then again, I don't ever win anything. Grant will be drunk and stripping, but really that's no diferent than any other show.

Anyways, if you're interested in forming your own dynamo boozing team, check out www.myspace.com/wineboxrace. Find 6 other drunks, and give it the ol' college try.
